      Good question!

Identical twins have similar fingerprints, but they’re not identical (you couldn’t frame your identical twin for robbery, for example!) The shape of your fingerprint comes about when you’re growing in the womb. It’s to do with the way you grow, and the stresses is places on various parts of you finger as they grow – similar to the way that you see ridges in sand dunes in a desert!
