Fossil fuels themselves no, but our usage of them has yes. Whether it is oil leaks like Deep Water Horizon or gradual climate change and ocean acidification with increasing CO2 in the atmosphere it all contributes to damaging our environment.

The bigger problem is the demand for fuel, if there wasn’t such a large demand we wouldn’t have to use as much polluting fuels (fossil, nuclear) but because of the ever increasing earth population and widespread technological advances the human race demands more energy and fossil fuels are unfortunately the most convenient.

There are efforts being made to move to other sources of fuel such as biofuel (still makes CO2 but we’re not using fossil fuels such as coal, crude oil or natural gas) which is a step in the right direction but ultimately (in my opinion) everyone needs to cut down.
