      Hi jennamz

      Yes – some of the work I did was featured in one of the newspapers in Ireland a few years ago. I was working with some chemists who were designing catalysts. These were organic molecules which can speed up the rate of reaction but they do not get used up in the reaction themselves. One problem they were having was trying to separate the catalyst from the rest of the chemicals at the end of their reactions – it took a long time and you can often lose some material in the process. So, we took their catalyst and attached it to a magnetic nanoparticle. Now, they could do their reactions and at the end, use a magnet to collect their catalyst which was still attached to the particle surface.
