That’s a really good question, corro. There are actually some cars around today that run on hydrogen, so it is possible. But those cars are VERY expensive, and they don’t run as well as petrol cars. So what we’re trying to do is make it so that hydrogen vehicles can go further and be cheaper to buy.
It’s always hard to tell what might happen in the future, but I think with the materials I’m working on, we could see a car running with them in the next 10 years. It’s crazy to think that things I work on in the lab could one day be in a car. Japan is going to start building lots of hydrogen powered cars from 2015, so they’re not far away. I’d love to drive one!
