Hey 0shobden. What I would be doing with the money is not really an invention, but I would be setting up a day where students could come and get hands on with the technology behind future cars, trying some experiments out and learning about what goes on under the hood of a car! I would hope that it was something which could be done again if it was successful.

      Thanks for the question 🙂

      Hi 0shobden

What I am planning isn’t exactly an invention either. I want to make compounds called superconductors and use them to demonstrate to students what the Meissner effect is. This is where you have a material that is a perfect diamagnet – it completely repels an applied magnetic field. I want to demonstrate this by showing magnetic levitation. At the moment, we need low temperatures to get this to work, but in the future we might be able to make materials that can display this kind of behavior at higher temperatures. There is lots of research ongoing to try to do this right now.
