Hi aussiechloe1112. It’s funny how we talk about our heart being the thing that tells us who we like, or what our emotions are. It’s probably becuase we feel our heartbeat change when we feel strong emotions, but I think it’s still our brain doing most of the work.

That’s a really tough question! I’m not sure we really understand why people like the people they do. Scientists try and explain our relationships in terms of evolution, so choosing someone to have healthy children with! It seems strange, but we can work some of this out from being around someone without realising it. So, for example, some scientists found that your brain can tell what another person’s immune system is like, just by smelling them!! Amazing, hey?!

I think these things are part of the story – but it seems to me that we have very complicated relationships with people, so other things like being interested in similar things, the experiences we share with someone, how they treat us, I think they all play a role too. It’s all very complicated! Great question – got me thinking 🙂
