The furthest any object has gone into space is the Voyager 1 space probe – it’s currently 18.6 billion kilometers from earth (that’s about 125 times the distance from the Earth to the Sun!)
When Voyager 1 got to 6 billion km from Earth, a scientist called Carl Sagan suggested to turn its camera around and take a phot of Earth from all that way away. What the picture turned out like was a tiny blue dot in a sea of darkness. I find it a really inspring picture to remind me of how lucky I am to be here! 😀
Here’s a video I like that talks about the photo, and our place in the Universe. Check it out!
