The most dangerous experiment I’ve ever done involved boiling one of my chemicals in a liquid called Bromine. It’s an extremely poisonous chemical – a couple of lungfulls are enough to kill you, and it’s also very reactive and corrosive! You have to wear a face shield and thick gloves to handle it and do the experiment in something called a fume cupboard – it’s like a really powerful version of the extractor fan above your kitchen cooker.
